Lei Xue’s Drinking Tea is a sculptural ode to the craft of Ming dynasty china that transports the craft to the present in the form of carefully crumpled porcelain cans. This piece reminded me of our current task to solve a future problem as both play with ideas of time travel and past/present/future cultures, reconciling time through symbolic representation.
