Ursuline College’s virtual gallery

In trying times like these weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have tried turning to art as a way of expressing the somber cultural zeitgeist pervading society. One of the most successful, in my opinion has been Ursuline College, which has just opened a new virtual gallery,“Self Portraits: Artists Respond to COVID-19,” showcasing a variety of local and international pieces of art relating to the pandemic. This small institution in Pepper Pike, Ohio, near Cleveland, hads manages to show that, even in the face of tragedy, or maybe because of it, we are still capable of making great works of art that stay meaningful to modern audiences, that can be shared through novel means.
